Academic Intervention Support
St. Ambrose School is Blessed to be able to provide support to all learners. We have general education teachers who reach the majority of the students in each classroom and we have special education services provided by North Colonie. Sometimes students need a little extra practice, or to be taught in a different way. That is where Academic Intervention Services (AIS) comes in.
My name is Mrs. Kristen Campito. This is my 11th school year here at St. Ambrose School. I spent my first five years teaching kindergarten, but I knew I wanted to expand my horizons and work with older students as well. Rather than moving up in grade levels, I am using my undergratuate concentration in mathematics and my graduate work in literacy to support the students who need a little bit more. I have been the AIS provider for the past 5 years, and I absolutely love it. I primarily support students in English Language Arts and Mathematics. I work closely with the students' primary teachers to ensure no student "falls through the cracks".
I strive to make my time with my students beneficial, engaging and supportive. I spend time building a relationship with them to help them feel comfortable and build a solid rapport. I see students for varying amounts of time per week based on the individual need of the student. I work with students one on one, in small groups, or even in the classroom.
Every student can learn and succeed, its just a matter of finding what clicks!
