Q: Does my child need to have academicknoweldge/skills before starting school?
A: Nope! The St. Ambrose Pre-Kindergarten program is an academic learning environment where students develop skills in the areas of: Faith Formation, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Work/Play Habits, Physical Development, and Social/Emotional Development. The Pre-K teachers will keep parents informed about each child's development with quarterly progress reports/report cards and consistent communication.
Q: Does my child need to be potty-trained before the start of school.
A: Yes, our students are expected to be potty-trained before they enter school. While we encourage independence, we completely understand that there can be accidents, which the teachers are able to assist with.
Q: My child does not nap. Is that a problem?
A: Not to worry, your child will be able to do quiet activities on their rest mat while their friends are resting .
Q: I am concerned about my child's speech, fine/gross motor skills or academic progress? What should I do?
A: The St. Ambrose Pre-Kindergarten staff will provide consistent and timely feedback about your child's progress. They will develop strategies to strengthen the areas of concern, and if more intervention is needed the teachers will be with you every step of the way as we coordinate with your home districts to request an evaluation.
Q: My child already has an IEP, will my child be able to receive services at school?
A: Yes! Your child’s services will continue as stated on their IEP during the school day for the frequency determined.
